Earlier this year, the Council of the Rural Municipality of North Qu’Appelle No. 187 proceeded with a municipal boundary alteration to correct the numbering of the RM’s municipal divisions and to better balance division populations within our growing municipality.
The boundary alteration has now been approved by Minister’s Order. The changes will take effect for the 2026 General Election on November 9, 2026.
What is Changing?
Division 1 – Formerly Division 4
The former Division 4 will become Division 1.
As part of the boundary alteration, the portion of Larocque Estates located north of the Qu’Appelle River has been incorporated into the new Division 1.
Under the Minister’s Order, the current term of office for this division has been extended by two years. As a result, Councillor Bernie Churko will continue to represent the RM as Councillor for Division 1 following the November 9, 2026 General Election and will serve the remainder of the extended term.
Division 2
The Division 2 number remains unchanged; however, the portion of Larocque Estates located north of the Qu’Appelle River has been removed from Division 2 and incorporated into the new Division 1.
Division 2 will be up for election in the November 9, 2026 General Election.
Division 3
Division 3 remains unchanged.
Division 4 – Formerly Division 6
The former Division 6 will become Division 4.
Division 4 will be up for election in the November 9, 2026 General Election.
2026 Municipal Election
The newly established division boundaries and numbering will be in effect for the upcoming General Election.
Nomination Period Opens: September 4, 2026
Nomination Day / Nominations Close: October 7, 2026
Election Day: November 9, 2026
Nominations will be accepted for:
- Councillor – Division 2
- Councillor – Division 4
The RM will notify the public when complete 2026 Municipal Election information is available on the municipal website, including a map showing the new division boundaries.
