NOTICE
The regular October Meeting of Council for the RM of North Qu’Appelle No. 187 is
scheduled with a time change for
Tuesday October 25th, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. in Council chambers
At the RM of North Qu’Appelle No. 187 office located at 136 Company Avenue, Fort
Qu’Appelle, SK. The meeting will be hosted and attended by Council in person and
electronically.
The public is able to attend the meeting via conference call, as per The Municipalities

We acknowledge that the land on which we gather is Treaty 4 land, the traditional territory of the Cree, Saulteaux bands of the Ojibwa peoples, and the Assiniboine, and Metis.

The Cree and Saulteaux signed Treaty 4 in the Town of Fort Qu’Appelle on September 15, 1874.

The Treaty 4 Governance Centre sits on treaty ground. Each year in September an annual gathering takes place on treaty ground in the Qu’Appelle Valley to reconnect, recognize and honor the spirit and intent of Treaty 4.

Welcome to the RM of North Qu’Appelle No. 187

The RM was incorporated as a rural municipality on December 12, 1910, and is now a diverse community of rural and urban areas including the Organized Hamlet of Pasqua Lake, Organized Hamlet of Taylor Beach, and several residential hamlets throughout the 494.98 square kilometers.

First Nations Communities located within the RM boundaries include Muscowpetung Saulteaux First Nation, Pasqua First Nation, Standing Buffalo Dakota First Nation.

Urban centers located within the RM boundaries include the Resort Village of B-Say-Tah, Resort Village of Fort San, Town of Fort Qu’Appelle, and Village of Lebret.  Municipalities that boarder RM 187 are the District of Katepwa, RM of Abernethy, RM of Cupar, RM of Indian Head, RM of Lipton, and, RM of South Qu’Appelle which includes the Hamlet of Edgeley.

The RM Council consists of the Reeve and 5 Councillors, one for each division. The support staff of the RM include, 2 full and 1 part time office staff, 3 full time public works crew, and 2 seasonal public works crew. The North Qu’Appelle Group Pipeline administration is also done through the RM office and a contract employee provides the majority of the pipelines’ administration.

Regular council meetings are held the second and fourth Tuesday of the month in the RM Board Room, 136 Company Avenue South, Fort Qu’Appelle— the public is welcome to attend in person.

Municipal and school taxes are levied on an annual basis for the calendar year January to December. Taxes are payable no later than December 31st.  Provincially, property assessment re-valuations are done every four years by the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency; annually a maintenance assessment re-valuation is provided pertaining to properties with changes, such as new builds.

The RM Council have members on the following boards:  The North Valley Waste Management Agency, The All Nations Healing Hospital, The Calling Lakes Planning Commission, Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan, Provincial Association of Resort Communities of Saskatchewan.

Several amenities are located throughout the area including the All Nations Healing Hospital, The Primary Health Care Centre, Canada Post Office, Public Library, rexenter, curling rinks, ski hill, skate park, local parks, golf courses, Treaty 4 Governance Centre, Trans Canada trails, motels, hotels, cabin rentals, B & B, provincial parks, art galleries, museums, many businesses and restaurants.
